Weekly Rewind: Momentum continues

There were big results and goals galore across both L1BC divisions in Matchweek 11 as important results came in midweek and over the weekend.

Another step closer to silverware

The gap at the top of the Women’s Division is now five points after Altitude claimed their ninth consecutive win of the season against Kamloops United. Going into the game on Sunday once everyone else had played might have added extra pressure, but Ella Sunde, Emma Yee, Shila Rasoul, Kiara Kilbey, and Paige Payne ensured they would get the job done.

Behind them in second, Vancouver Rise Academy kept their slim hopes of defending their title alive with a 3-0 win over Evolution on Saturday. They have played an extra two games than the current leaders, so could still find themselves 11 points adrift, but Jade Mitchell’s seventh of the season, alongside goals from Adrianna Giese and Bianca Patik, claimed some crucial points.

Elsewhere on Saturday, it was a goal-fest in Burnaby as they carried their 1-1 tie with Langley into the weekend with a 5-3 home win over Nanaimo United. The visitors had started to pick up some points this season, but Katie Connell and Saira Johal both scored braces to move the hosts into sixth place.

Wednesday’s game in the Men’s Division also ended 1-1, with Emmanuel Santo Lado opening the scoring for Langley before Kyle Dent’s equalizer from the penalty spot. The two sides remain as the front-runners in the standings, with Langley ahead by one point and having a game in hand.

Later in the matchweek, Burnaby earned their second point of the week but failed to go top after a 2-2 tie with Nanaimo on Saturday. The latter led twice through Charlie Smith and Suka Behery, but Nico Mrsic and Kyle Dent’s second penalty of the week kept the score level. Nanaimo are still winless, but can build on a solid away point.

Elsewhere, Vancouver Whitecaps Academy enjoyed their Saturday, beating Evolution 4-2 at Thunderbird Stadium. A Kyler Vojvodic brace, alongside Angelo Zhu’s finish and a Nick Mackinnon own goal, gave the hosts their fourth win of 2025, but they remain outside the top five.

On Sunday, the final match of the gameweek saw Altitude also claim a 4-2 win over Kamloops at Kinsmen Field. The hosts opened the scoring early through Carson Buschman-Dormand and never looked back as they put themselves in the top four.
