Weekend Preview: Crowning of champions

Altitude will enjoy their Women’s Division trophy presentation this Sunday, while the race for the men’s title is still wide open.

Getting the job done

With 12 wins, and just one tie and one loss, Altitude have been the standout side in the Women’s Division this season. After Unity’s 1-1 tie on Wednesday, the runaway leaders did not need to play to be crowned champions, as no team can now challenge them due to head-to-head records. They are back in action on Sunday, facing Langley in front of their own fans.

Wednesday also saw TSS Rovers earn their sixth win of 2025 when they beat Burnaby 2-1 at Swangard Stadium, but neither are in action this weekend.

Saturday’s action will see Evolution hosting Nanaimo United. The top four is out of reach for Evolution now but the aim for both teams will be to finish the season on a positive note.

Elsewhere, Kamloops host Unity, with the visitors looking back at a season that could have been much more. With just two defeats from 13 for Unity, they still have their eyes on a potential top-two finish, as Vancouver Rise Academy are without a game.

Seventh heaven

TSS Rovers returned to the top of the Men’s Division on Wednesday while Langley United were out of action. With a 7-1 win against Burnaby, which involved four Koji Poon goals, TSS moved two points ahead of second but with an extra game played. Langley could return to the top on Sunday when they travel to Altitude, but the pressure is on.

Evolution and Unity tied 2-2 in midweek, with pure chaos unravelling in the final moments of the game. Three goals in the space of 10 minutes saw Evolution equalize twice against their visitors to share the spoils.

Both sides play again this weekend, with Evolution hosting a Nanaimo United side who claimed their first win of the season last week. Only one point separates Evolution in sixth, and Unity and Vancouver Whitecaps Academy below them. The visitors’ aim will be to make it two wins from two and end their first season with smiles.

Unity travel to a Kamloops side who still have hopes of finishing in the top three. The hosts are three points away from Burnaby in fourth, and five away from Altitude in third, but they do have a game in hand on both teams.
