Weekend Preview: standings taking shape

Nanaimo United host Kamloops United in this week’s broadcasts as the two clubs compete for a charity shield.

A competitive Saturday

It is a day of top-half battles in the Women’s division, including Langley United’s game against Unity. Both sides have enjoyed unbeaten starts to the 2025 season with Unity winning three from three, compared to Langley’s two wins and a tie in their debut season.

Langley’s men’s side have begun the year better than the other sides in action on Saturday, sitting fourth with a win and a loss. Unity will be looking to bounce back after their 1-0 defeat to TSS Rovers last weekend.

Elsewhere, Evolution are looking to make it three wins in a row in the Women’s Division after their opening day defeat to TSS Rovers. The Coquitlam-based team face defending champions Vancouver Rise Academy, who have two wins and a loss from their opening three matches.

Evolution have had a mixed start in the Men’s Division, with one win, one tie, and one loss so far. Their opponents, a young Vancouver Whitecaps Academy side, have three losses from their opening four games and are aiming to take all three points.

An opportunistic Sunday

There are valuable points on the board in Sunday’s fixtures. In the Women’s Division, the two teams at the bottom of the league face off as Kamloops United travel to Nanaimo United. Following their rebrands, both teams have lost all three of their opening games, so this fixture is mightily important for their seasons.

Nanaimo are also hunting for their first win in the Men’s Division, following one tie and two defeats. Their match against Kamloops will be no easy feat, though, as the visitors are unbeaten so far with two wins and a tie.

Kamloops and Nanaimo are battling each other for the Reid Davidson Charity Shield, and both men’s and women’s matches will be streamed live on YouTube.

Elsewhere, table-toppers Altitude host Burnaby. The home side have had a perfect start to their 2025 campaign with three wins from three and a goal difference of nine, meanwhile Burnaby are aiming to achieve two wins in a row after their opening day 4-0 defeat at home to Unity.

Altitude’s men are also looking for their first win of 2025 when they host Burnaby. The visitors currently have two wins from two to start the season, so they will be a difficult test.
