The newly formed competition will bring together female teams from League1 BC, League1 Ontario and Première Ligue de Soccer du Québec (PLSQ).
Following last week’s formal announcement of League1 Canada, a strategic collaboration between League1 BC, PLSQ and League1 Ontario with support of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) and Canadian Soccer Business (CSB), BC Soccer is excited to announce League 1 BC’s involvement in the first Women’s Interprovincial Championship later this summer.
The inaugural event will be hosted by PLSQ in Laval, Quebec, featuring two teams from the host league (PLSQ) along with one team from League1 Ontario, and one team from League1 BC. Semi Finals take place on Friday, August 12th, with the Championship match taking place Sunday, August 14th.
“The opportunity for League1 BC to be a part of the Women’s Interprovincial Championship is the result of the alignment and positive collaboration of the three leagues” said Sian Bagshawe, League1 BC General Manager. “We look forward to showcase the strengths and talents of the players within our province against well-established Clubs from League1 Ontario and PLSQ.”
Participation at this event aligns with League1 BC’s pillar of “Opportunity” for players to compete at the highest level available. One of the goals is to enlarge the scope of the event and evolve over time to grow and drive more visibility and investment to female teams, solidifying it as a high-level competition for female players.
The Women’s Interprovincial Championship will take place following the League1 BC’s Final scheduled for BC Day long weekend. (Find the full League1 BC schedule here).
