Countdown to the biggest season yet

Four months of soccer, two new clubs, and regular-season champions; here’s our Bluffer’s Guide to the 2025 League1 BC season.

Here we go! The League1 BC season kicks off this week, and we’re here to get you ready for the new campaign.

Whether you’re a returning supporter, or first-time fan, here is some key information you should know about the fourth season of Pro-Am soccer in British Columbia.

Biggest season yet

The 2025 season will feature more clubs than any other League1 BC campaign, with the addition of two new teams, Langley United and Evolution FC.

Langley will celebrate their 100th birthday next year and joining L1BC marks another milestone in a long history, while Evolution are a new team growing out of established youth club Coquitlam Metro-Ford.

Both clubs will take to the field in the Men’s and Women’s Division, resulting in the two competitions expanding to nine teams, and 16 matches for each side with teams meeting at home and on the road.

Rivers and Harbourside rebranded to Kamloops United and Nanaimo United respectively, and new Northern Super League team Vancouver Rise have joined forces with reigning Women’s Division champions Whitecaps FC Girls Elite to field the Vancouver Rise Academy.

Regular-season champions

For the first time, the winners of the League1 BC regular season will be crowned that division’s champions. There will be no postseason to determine who the men’s and women’s titles are awarded to this year.

Clubs voted in the offseason and the outcome was to discontinue playoffs and Finals Day, and instead award the overall title to the team that finishes top of the standings come the last day of the campaign on Saturday, July 26.

This means that every point matters as we head into the new season, with no prizes for finishing outside of the top spot.

The division winners will also go on to represent British Columbia in the 2025 League1 Canada Women’s Inter-Provincial Championship, and the 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship.

Watch the soccer stars of tomorrow

With the introduction of the Northern Super League – the new top flight for women’s soccer in Canada – more players than ever have stepped up from League1 BC to sign professional contracts.

League1 Canada competitions help to build bridges between the elite youth and amateur levels of the game to professional opportunities around the world, and by supporting League1 BC, soccer fans can cheer on the province’s up-and-coming stars.
