Women’s Final

Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy 2-1 Burnaby FC

A season to remember for Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy had the perfect ending as the Women’s Division’s invincibles beat Burnaby FC 2-1.

The final came to life in the 31st minute when Kaylee Hunter netted once again for the Whitecaps to open the scoring, with Player of the Year Jeneva Hernandez Gray doubling their lead five minutes after half time.

The two-goal lead didn’t last for long, as Kaiden Sherwood got a goal back for Burnaby just three minutes later. Yet it wasn’t enough to halt further celebrations for the regular-season champions, as Whitecaps retained their Finals Day crown and completed the unbeaten season.

Burnaby, however, end an impressive inaugural League1 BC season with silver medals, and came so close to producing what would have been arguably the biggest upset of the campaign. Now they can look to go one better in 2025.

Men’s Final

TSS Rovers FC 3-2 Altitude FC

Men’s regular-season champions TSS Rovers left it late to beat Altitude in the Men’s Division Final as they won 3-2.

It was the perfect start for the hosts as Massud Habibullah opened the scoring with less than 60 seconds on the clock. Defender of the Year Nikolas White added a second 15 minutes before half-time to give Rovers a comfortable lead at the break.

Ambrose Tinmouth then gave Altitude a lifeline as the forward got the visitors back into the game on the hour mark, before teammate Nathan Walters received a second yellow card of the game and was dismissed from the field with 15 minutes to go.

Being a man light was no problem for the visitors as they levelled matters with six minutes to go when Stazi Ahayo scored from the spot, but the work was undone when Altitude gave away a penalty to the hosts three minutes later.

Rovers substitute Erik Edwardson then stepped up to smash the ball past Luca Ortu to put the hosts back in front, only for another penalty to be given by referee David Schmidt-Schweda; this time in favor of Altitude.

After already scoring from the spot, Ahayo stepped up to bring the visitors level for the second time in this thrilling Final, but he missed the target. TSS Rovers then saw out stoppage time to ensure they made it a double-winning season.

Although heartbroken in the final, Altitude’s men have had an impressive year considering their seventh-place finish in the Men’s Division last year, and will no doubt be planning for an even more successful campaign next year.
