It’s been a busy offseason for League1 BC expansion club Langley United who have been making some key signings ahead of their inaugural season at the Pro-Am level.

The club’s Technical Director, Mark Parker, and his team are looking to establish Langley as a competitive team in League1 BC as well as strengthen the pathway from their youth levels through to the professional game.

Mark’s goals also include establishing the club’s brand in the community, while laying the foundations to compete for silverware in the coming years, and he invites soccer fans to come along for the journey.

“Supporting Langley United’s League1 BC teams in 2025 is about more than just cheering for a soccer club,” he said. “It’s about investing in the future of the game, the community, and the next generation of Canadian talent.

“Langley Supporters should keep their eyes on Reese Moffatt this season because of her leadership traits and experience. Two NCAA Tournament appearances and a 2018 SEC Tournament Champion; she knows what it takes to compete at the highest level.

“Paige Colby is an alumnus from our LUSA [Langley United Soccer Association] youth program and continues to develop. She’s a leader on the pitch and young LUSA members will see a bit of their future selves when they watch Paige. She’s a LUSA legend.”

Since signing Brody Thomas – Langley’s first League1 signing and lifelong LUSA player – more rising stars have joined the club including last year’s Women’s Division top scorer, Kierra Blundell.

She was a force to be reckoned with for Whitecaps, and was a Big 12 Freshman of the Year with Arizona State University. Blundell was recently called up to the CANW20 roster for the Concacaf Women’s U20 Qualifiers alongside several now-professional players, providing even more value to Langley’s debut season.

Langley have executed similarly shrewd business on the men’s side, with returning L1BC players Amir Ghasemi and Connor MacMillan providing key experiences from Whitecaps and TSS Rovers respectively.

The blend of LUSA and former League1 talent will be led by two experienced coaches, spearheading a dedicated team of club staff.

“Chelsey Hannesson [women’s head coach] brings over 15 years of extensive coaching experience across various levels, including adaptive programs, the Ontario Player Development League, and multiple seasons in League1 BC,” Parker continued.

“She was also selected for the CPL Volkswagen Canada’s Game Changers Starting XI in 2022, recognising her positive impact on the soccer community.

“Azad Palani [men’s head coach] has been integral to Langley United for nine years, bringing passion and dedication to his role as Assistant Technical Director.

“In 2024, Azad expanded his coaching repertoire by joining Vancouver FC as an Assistant Coach in the Canadian Premier League. His extensive experience in the Lower Mainland soccer community and his role with Vancouver FC underscore his dedication to fostering soccer talent and contributing to the sport’s growth in the region.

“Behind every successful club, there’s someone working tirelessly in the background, making sure everything runs smoothly. Tom Duncan’s dedication, commitment, and behind-the-scenes efforts have played a crucial role in shaping the club’s success.

“Whether it’s supporting players, organizing logistics, or ensuring everything is in place for gameday, Tom is a vital part of Langley United’s journey.

“And as a fan, you’re part of something new and exciting, helping build a legacy for the club and its future.”
