New partnership marks iconic sportswear brand’s first foray into Canadian market.
Toronto, ON – (October 23, 2024) – League1 Canada, the national alliance of Canada’s provincial Pro-Am women’s and men’s soccer leagues, today announced a new multi-year agreement with hummel, which will see the Danish apparel company become its official apparel partner.
The partnership marks hummel’s introduction to the Canadian market and will see the internationally-renowned sportswear brand, known for its iconic bumblebee logo, produce exclusive merchandise for League1 Canada and offer custom kit solutions for its 57 clubs, comprising 188 teams.
“We are thrilled to partner with a global brand like hummel, which has long shown a proven commitment to excellence through its apparel and believes in building community through kits,” said John Gibson, Interim General Manager, League1 Canada. “We can’t wait to see what our clubs come up with as they create their on-field visual identities with hummel.”
The agreement, which was negotiated by Canadian Soccer Business, will also see hummel provide all League1 Canada staff apparel and have a presence at all League1 Canada marquee events and tournaments from coast to coast.
“Growing soccer in Canada means raising the standards for every aspect of our game at all levels,” said Glen Johnson, Executive Vice President, Canadian Soccer Business. “We are doing just that in securing this agreement with an iconic brand like hummel that all our League1 Canada teams can benefit from. We’re excited to make their introduction to the Canadian market a positive experience.”
Founded in 1923, hummel’s iconic chevrons feature on several globally recognized teams’ kits. They can be found on the jerseys of the Danish national team, Bundesliga clubs FC Cologne and Werder Bremen and Real Betis of La Liga amongst others.
“Our team is thrilled to begin our work alongside League1 Canada,” said Conor Caloia of hummel Pro North America. “This partnership is just the beginning of our long-term investment into Canada during a historic period of growth for the game of soccer in the country. We’re excited to start building at the grassroots and connecting with Canada’s passionate soccer community.”
