Catch-up on some of the major headlines around League1 BC before the 2025 season kicks off.

It was a busy offseason for players and clubs from League1 BC, and for the Canadian soccer scene as a whole.
To get you ready for the 2025 Pro-Am campaign, here is a collection of some of the top headlines from the offseason:
TELUS Canadian Championship draw
TSS Rovers found out that Valour FC will be their 2025 Canadian Championship Preliminary Round opponents. The Rovers beat the Canadian Premier League team to secure a landmark victory in 2023, and now a rematch is on the cards.
Regan paves the way
Emma Regan became the first former League1 BC player to sign for a Northern Super League team after she put pen-to-paper on a transfer from HB Køge to AFC Toronto.
Stars move to Northern Super League
Following Regan, former players from Whitecaps FC Girls Elite, TSS Rovers, Harbourside, Altitude, Burnaby, Unity, and Nautsaʼmawt all signed professional contracts with clubs in Canada’s professional soccer league – set to kick off in the spring.

CPL U-SPORTS Draft
The annual draft for Canada-based university soccer players took place in December and saw League1 BC alumni Henri Godbout and Joven Mann selected by Vancouver FC and Halifax Wanderers respectively.
Going pro in Europe
Mia Pante and Jeneva Hernandez Gray signed for top professional clubs in Europe following stellar seasons for college and club in 2024. Pante swapped Burnaby for AS Roma in Italy, and Whitecaps’ Hernandez Gray signed for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon after being recalled for the Canadian national team.

International duty
Several former League1 BC players were in action for Canada’s U20s during February, helping them qualify for the Concacaf Women’s U20 Championship.
