Women’s Division

Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy 4-2 TSS Rovers FC

Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy enjoyed an undefeated regular-season campaign, and they’re not ruling out winning the playoffs either after they came out on top against opponents TSS Rovers in the postseason semifinals.

After the opening 20 minutes, the game was brought to life by Whitecaps’ free-scoring forward Kaylee Hunter. The hosts quickly went two goals up via Brianne Reed’s goal with 11 minutes to go before the break, but Katie Bishop’s strike pulled one back for the Rovers on the brink of half-time.

Jenna Baxter then fired TSS level three minutes after the break to give the regular-season champions a scare, but it only added fuel to the fire.

Abigail Anderson scored with just nine minutes to go to give Whitecaps the lead again, before fellow substitute Josie Longhurst added the fourth to give her side a chance of retaining their Finals Day crown from last year.

Unity FC 1-1 Burnaby FC (Burnaby win 6-5 on penalties)

Despite finishing second in the overall standings, Unity FC’s season will not extend to Finals Day after they were beaten by Burnaby FC on penalties.

Sophie Crowther opened the scoring for the hosts in the 29th minute, before Unity’s goalkeeper Joven Sandhu saw red early in the second half. Raegan Mackenzie then equalized from the spot with nine minutes to go to send the semifinal to a penalty shootout.

In sudden death, Karlee Pedersen saw her spot-kick saved by visiting goalkeeper Sarah Loewen, leaving Kaiden Sherwood to seal Burnaby’s place in the final.

Burnaby now stand 90 minutes away from winning the Women’s Division in their inaugural League1 BC season, but to achieve that, they will need to produce a shock result against Whitecaps and end their long unbeaten run this Sunday – live on L1BC YouTube.

Men’s Division

TSS Rovers FC 4-1 Harbourside FC

TSS Rovers are through to the Men’s Division Final after dismissing Harbourside at Swangard Stadium in emphatic fashion.

It was a lively start to matters as Kian Proctor got the goalscoring underway just five minutes into the match, only for the visiting Charlie Purcell to level matters just six minutes later. Ivan Mejia then quickly re-established Rovers’ lead and Massud Habibullah made it 3-1 to the regular-season champions in injury time of the first half.

Koki Poon then sealed Rovers’ place in the final, putting the game beyond any doubt, with 15 minutes to go to have TSS dreaming of further glory this season.

As for Harbourside, it was an impressive season as they reached the playoffs for the first time following a last-placed finish in their inaugural League1 BC season a year ago. They will now regroup ahead of the 2025 L1BC season and prepare to go one better.

Altitude FC 3-1 Whitecaps FC Academy

Altitude will face TSS Rovers on Finals Day after they saw off Whitecaps FC Academy at Kinsmen Field.

Oliver Herbert opened the scoring for the hosts in the 16th minute, and they lead for most of the game until Whitecaps substitute Ethan Stiver equalized with just under 20 minutes remaining in the second half.

Lucas Booth then put Altitude back in front eight minutes later, and Oliver Herbert then netted his second of the game in the final moments to set up an exciting final between Altitude and the regular-season champions.

The result also confirmed there will be new Men’s Division Finals champions this year, as Whitecaps were victorious in 2023 but have lost out on the opportunity to retain their crown at Swangard Stadium this Sunday.
