About Swangard Stadium

The latest chapter in Swangard Stadium’s long and proud history will be written this weekend when hosting the 2024 League1 BC Finals Day.

The stadium was named after Vancouver Sun sports journalist Erin Swangard, who raised over $1 million for its construction in 1969. In the 55 years since, the stadium has hosted many teams and sporting events and was most notably the home of the Vancouver Whitecaps for 23 years before their entry into the Major League Soccer in 2011.

Swangard Stadium was also used in the 2007 FIFA U20 World Cup, and the Canadian Men’s and Women’s National Teams have previously used it as a home ground in Olympic and World Cup qualifying. It’s not only soccer that has been played at Swangard but also ultimate frisbee, track and field events and even quidditch.

This season, it has been home to TSS Rovers’ League1 BC home games and their Swangardians supporter group, and you can be sure there will be a great atmosphere for at Finals Day this Sunday.
