Weekend Preview: Altitude climbing higher
Unity have a bye-week in the Women’s Division, which gives Altitude a chance to go clear at the top. It is time for Matchweek Six of the L1BC season.

An opportunity at the summit
The L1BC action gets underway on Saturday, May 10, this weekend, but one of the key fixtures to keep an eye on is this Sunday.
With Unity and Altitude sitting joint-top of the Women’s Division with four wins out of four so far, the latter have a chance to put some distance between the sides with an extra game. They host Evolution, who currently have two wins and two losses to start 2025, while rivals Unity have a week off.
A match to watch on Saturday is Burnaby hosting TSS Rovers – two sides that have started the season similarly with one win each so far in the Women’s Division. TSS have played an extra game, which ended in defeat, so they sit side by side in the standings going into this game which will be live on League1 BC’s YouTube channel.
Elsewhere, Nanaimo United are the home side in their match against Langley United. The hosts claimed their first win of the season last week after a difficult start to the year, and Langley went down against Unity for their first loss of 2025, so this game could be an interesting one to watch.
To round up the action from the Women’s Division on Saturday, Kamloops United are on the road to face defending champions, Vancouver Rise Academy, whose title defence has begun with seven points from a possible 15.
Entertainment factor
It is set to be an interesting Saturday afternoon in the Men’s Division, notably between the second and third-place sides Burnaby and defending champions TSS Rovers, live on YouTube.
The hosts are unbeaten after three matches so far, with two wins and a tie, while TSS have played one extra game that ended in defeat. With Kamloops sitting top on 10 points, both sides will want to put the pressure on and join the title race.
For Kamloops, they will be aiming to extend their lead at the top when they travel to eighth-place Vancouver Whitecaps Academy. The visitors have won three of their four games so far, including a 4-0 win against Nanaimo last week. The Whitecaps won on the opening day but have lost every match since, so their young squad will be hunting that winning feeling once again.
The other Saturday match in the Men’s Division is between Nanaimo United and Langley United. The latter are the visiting side and return to action off the back of a 5-3 defeat to Unity, while Nanaimo are still looking for their first win of 2025 since their rebrand.
The solo Sunday match is between Altitude and Evolution, as the former hunt their first win of the season following three ties and one defeat. Evolution are currently joint-second on seven points and will have their own title ambitions if they can maintain form in their debut season.
