Weekend Preview: Back in the Hunt

There was a surprise result in midweek between two sides who clash again this weekend in the Women’s Division – as the gap could close even tighter in Matchweek 12.

Locked horns

TSS Rovers and Langley United head into the weekend level on points in the Men’s Division following the former’s 2-1 midweek win against Vancouver Whitecaps Academy.

Langley currently hold top spot with a better head-to-head record and can extend their lead with a positive result against Evolution on Saturday. They will have played an extra game, but every point is crucial in this title race.

There is an interesting matchup the following day, when Unity travel to Altitude to repeat their same fixture from Wednesday. That game saw a comfortable 5-0 road win for Altitude, so Unity need a quick turnaround if they are to avoid defeat against a home crowd who will be more than up for it.

Kamloops United host a Nanaimo United side who are still searching for their first win of 2025. The hosts currently sit fifth with an inconsistent record, but without winning their next few games they could be stuck in mid-table based on the form the top three are having.

Right back in the fight

There was a Women’s Division shock in midweek when Altitude were handed their first loss of the season, ending their nine-game winning streak. They were beaten 1-0 by Unity on Wednesday, and if the result is replicated again on Sunday the gap would be two points, with Unity also having a game in hand.

Wednesday also saw Vancouver Rise Academy enjoy a 2-1 win at TSS Rovers, but neither side are in action this weekend. Instead, Saturday involves Evolution and Langley, who will both look to move away from the bottom half and into the top four. However, the top three seem to be running away at this stage.

Kamloops host Nanaimo in a battle between the bottom two. With three wins between them at this stage, the gap could be as big as eight points by the end of Sunday. A win for the home side, though, would move them two points behind their opponents, and their aim will be to kickstart some good form.
