WEEKend preview

Points are all the more important this weekend with just three full matchweeks left to play in the regular season.

Rovers host Rivers

There is only a point between TSS Rovers FC and Rivers FC in the Women’s Division standings, with both sides having lost their last outing and now looking to close the gap between them and the playoff dotted line.

Rovers are currently occupying the last spot in the Men’s Division playoffs and a win would keep them on track for a title charge in July, with championship rivals Unity FC and Whitecaps FC Academy sharing the spoils on Wednesday. A Rivers victory would see them close the gap between them and TSS to a single point.

Rivers’ teams come into this weekend having not featured in the League1 BC schedule last weekend. Can they use the reset to their advantage, or will the Rovers click into gear and push up the standings?

Altitude visit Burnaby

Altitude FC would go top of the Men’s Division on Saturday if they can pick up three points against bottom side Burnaby FC, who have won just once in their inaugural League1 BC campaign.

While it’s been a better season for Burnaby’s women, they were defeated in their last two league games after consecutive wins had initially drawn them closer to the seemingly unassailable Whitecaps FC Girls Elite squad, who won 4-2 against Unity in midweek.

Form hasn’t been great for Altitude FC either as, despite occupying a playoff place, they have only picked up one point from their last three Women’s Division matches. With Rovers’ three games in hand, victory for Altitude against Burnaby is all the more important if they are to ensure they play in the postseason.
