WEEKend preview
TSS Rovers return to League1 BC action in Matchweek Two, as Burnaby look to continue their solid start.
Burnaby FC vs Unity FC
Burnaby achieved an almost perfect start to life in League1 BC last week. Their women’s team were 3-1 victors against Harbourside and would have gone top of the standings had it not been for Whitecaps’ high-scoring win over Unity, and their men’s team tied 1-1 against Harbourside.
Unity’s men’s team, meanwhile, put out a strong showing against the Whitecaps, who were the 2023 Men’s Division Final winners and shared the points: their penalty – which was tremendously saved by Benjamin Alexander – perhaps a sign that an opening-weekend upset was firmly on the cards.
Harbourside FC vs Rivers FC
Harbourside opened the 2024 League1 BC season with a loss and a tie in the Women’s and Men’s Divisions respectively, while Rivers began unbeaten with a tie and a win.
In fact, Rivers were the only men’s team to win in the opening weekend, Hagon Kim scoring the only goal in their game against Altitude FC. They could extend their early two-point gap at the top of the standings with victory this weekend.
Whitecaps FC Academy vs TSS Rovers FC
TSS Rovers open their 2024 Men’s Division campaign against tough opposition this weekend. The Rovers will be fresh off their eye-catching TELUS Canadian Championship performance away at the Canadian Premier League’s Pacific FC, who had to rely on a last-minute equalizer and penalties to defeat their Pro-Am opponents.
TSS can take confidence from that game, and they’ll do all they can to ensure the Men’s Division Final champs have to wait a little longer for their first win in 2024.
