Weekly Rewind: Battling until the end
The penultimate games of the L1BC season have been completed, with only two points separating first and second in the Men’s Division going into the final weekend.

Taking the fight all the way
TSS Rovers and Langley United have ensured that the men’s title scrap is heading into the final match of the season after enjoying victories in Matchweek 15.
The weekend began on Friday, though, with Burnaby and Evolution playing out a 2-2 tie. The latter took the lead twice through Dominic di Paola and Ryan Torresan, but Asvin Chauhan and Connor Mrazek twice equalized for Burnaby. Evolution have now completed their season, finishing with 18 points after their 16 games.
A day later, TSS Rovers came back from a 1-0 deficit to set up a nailbiting final match next weekend. Niklas Hallam gave Nanaimo United the lead in the first half, but Ivan Mejia continued his scoring form with a brace to turn the game on its head. With 14 goals in 15 games this year, it has been a storming season for Mejia.
Langley remain second and hot on the heels of Rovers after giving themselves a shot at the title with a 2-0 home win against Kamloops United. Joel Badger fired the hosts into the lead within four minutes then secured the points in the 78th minute to set up a crunch match in Vancouver this weekend.
The final game of Saturday was an entertaining one, with Unity and Vancouver Whitecaps Academy tying 3-3. Victory Shumbusho and Nick Fussell gave Unity a 2-0 lead but Francesco Troisi and Liam MacGowan fought back to equalize. Tyler Brown then looked to have completed the turnaround on 70 minutes but Kieran Eve equalized with time almost up.
Goals, goals, goals
The Women’s Division title may be wrapped up but Matchweek 15 still supplied plenty of entertainment.
Friday night saw Evolution claim their fifth win of the season when they beat Burnaby 3-2 away from home. Kate Erhardsen scored a brace to put the visitors 2-0 up, before Saira Johal got one back for the home side. Evolution then restored their two-goal lead, and Johal’s second with 30 minutes remaining was not enough to stage a comeback.
A day later, Vancouver Rise Academy secured second place with a 3-0 win at Unity. Upneet Mann, Zahra Bains, and Lacey Kindel put the visitors into a three-goal lead at half-time, and that was how the score stayed as they increased the gap to third to six points.
TSS Rovers made sure they will finish fourth with their 2-2 tie at Nanaimo United. The home side took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to goals from Ella Ashfield and Ava Alexander, but two goals in two minutes from Sofia Faremo and Erin Bhandal completed the comeback with 13 minutes left to play.
Langley also remained in fifth place after beating Kamloops 2-1 at Willoughby Athletic Park. The away side took a 1-0 lead into half-time thanks to a Cara Freeman goal, but Megan Sun and Paige Colby turned things around to give the hosts their fifth win of 2025.
