Weekly Rewind: Fine margins
Altitude edged out Vancouver Rise Academy to maintain their perfect Women’s Division start, with Unity still hot on their tail.

Defending champions back on top
TSS Rovers made a giant leap to the summit of the Men’s Division on Saturday when they beat Nanaimo United 6-1 at home. The current champions went 3-0 up in the first half-hour, through Ivan Mejia and a Shaya Zarjampour brace. Meija’s eventual hat-trick, alongside a Lowell Wright goal, was too much for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Kamloops United lost momentum in the title fight with their first loss of 2025. They were beaten at home by Burnaby 1-0 through Emile Saimovici’s first-half goal. The hosts had remained top all season until this game, and now sit second with the same points as TSS.
There was also an away win for Altitude when they beat Vancouver Whitecaps Academy 3-0. Athos De Siqueira opened the scoring early in the second half before Thomas Budisa and Ali Azarminoo secured all three points for the visitors.
To conclude Men’s Division action, Unity and Evolution played out a 2-2 tie. Dominic Di Paola put the visitors 1-0 up after 17 minutes, before Kieran Eve and Grant Verhoevan turned the game on its head. Frixos Petsas equalized for Evolution just after the hour mark and neither side could find a winner.
A title fight for the ages?
Altitude and Unity both continued their perfect starts in the Women’s Division on Saturday.
For the former, they have made it six wins from six after their victory at defending champions Vancouver Rise Academy. Bailey Doerksen and Jayda Thompson put the visitors 2-0 up after 31 minutes, before Quinn Johnson got one back for the hosts. It would only be a consolation, though, as Altitude held on to remain at the top of the standings.
For Unity, it was more comfortable as they beat Evolution 4-1 at Cloverdale Athletic Park. It was a ruthless first-half display from the hosts, with Abigail Anderson, Jenna Baxter, Mansha Sidhu, and Charity Field making it 4-0 before the break. Noelle Sather’s second-half penalty was purely a consolation, as Unity made it five from five.
Elsewhere, Kamloops claimed their first win of the season in a 3-2 home victory against Burnaby. The two sides sit next to each other at the bottom, but the hosts finally achieved maximum points thanks to goals from Raiya Rumo, Norah Bell, and Taylor Miller.
Last, but not least, TSS Rovers hosted a 2-2 tie with Nanaimo United. The home side took an early 2-0 lead through Jessica Merk and Delana Friesen, but Ava Alexander and Victoria Cronkhite completed an impressive comeback to secure a point.
