Perfect starts continue

Both Unity and Altitude have made it three wins from three in the Women’s Division.

It was a thrilling first half for Altitude at Kamloops United, with both Jayda Thompson and Vanessa Tome scoring braces to go 4-0 up. Holly Whelan made it five with three minutes left in the game before Emily Clark’s consolation.

For Unity, a Jenna Baxter penalty with four minutes to play secured all three points against TSS Rovers after Mansha Sidhu’s opener and Sophia Feramo’s equalizer. They now sit level at the top, only second due to goal difference.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Burnaby won 2-1 at Nanaimo United for their first victory of the campaign. Nanaimo stayed bottom of the league with Kamloops after three defeats in three games.

Burnaby flying in the Men’s Division

Burnaby made it two wins from two in their campaign following a 1-0 victory away at Nanaimo. Emile Saimovici scored the first and only goal of the game in the 65th minute.

Defending champions TSS Rovers also won by one goal, beating Unity thanks to a Michael Hennessy strike. Rovers sit top of the league after four games but have one eye over their shoulder at teams with games in hand behind them.

To finish Saturday in the Men’s Division, Kamloops and Altitude tied 0-0, as the former remain unbeaten to start the campaign.

Unbeaten home debuts for Langley

In the Men’s Division, Langley took maximum points with a 3-0 win against the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy. Joel Badger opened the scoring before completing his brace in the second half, and then a minute later on 66’, Brody Thomas sealed the victory in their home opener.

It was a stalemate 0-0 in the women’s game with defending champions Vancouver Rise Academy sitting fifth in the league and Langley in third.
